Buy Designer Luxury Beds Online at AG Handicrafts
A bed takes up the most visual and physical room in your bedroom, so getting it right matters. If it squeaks every time you turn over, or if the veneer starts peeling off after one humid monsoon, you’ll regret buying it within six months.
At AG Handicrafts, we build beds the old-school way right here in Jodhpur. That means real, seasoned Sheesham (Indian Rosewood), sturdy Mango timber, and genuine joinery. No cheap particle boards, no paper-thin laminates, and no flimsy hollow metals. Just heavy, dependable wood furniture built to carry weight, stay silent, and last through decades of daily use.
What Sets an AG Handicrafts Bed Apart?
- Real, Seasoned Hardwood: We work primarily with chemically treated, kiln-dried Sheesham wood. The natural oils inside the timber keep termites away, while proper seasoning prevents planks from warping or splitting as seasons change.
- Jodhpur Joinery & Quiet Frames: Creaking beds usually happen because cheap fasteners loosen against soft board over time. Our frames use solid mortise-and-tenon joints alongside heavy-gauge hardware so your bed stays completely grounded and rattle-free.
- Storage Built for Heavy Linens: Modern Indian homes never have enough closet room. Our built-in storage cavities, whether gas-lift hydraulic, pull-out drawers, or traditional manual lids, are reinforced to take heavy razais, winter bedding, and luggage without sagging underneath.
- Honest Finishes: We let the natural swirling grain of Rosewood take center stage. Instead of masking flaws behind thick plastic coatings, we seal our pieces with low-VOC, child-safe stains that highlight the wood’s natural depth.
Choosing the Right Size & Style
- King Size (72" x 78" mattress size): The right pick if you have at least 12 x 14 feet of floor space. It gives two adults and a child plenty of room to sleep comfortably without bumping elbows.
- Queen Size (60" x 78" mattress size): The most practical choice for typical 10 x 10 or 10 x 12 foot apartment bedrooms. You get plenty of personal sleeping space while keeping a clear 3-foot walking corridor around your wardrobes.
- Hydraulic Lift Beds: Ideal if you want daily access to under-bed storage without wrestling a heavy mattress. Smooth gas struts do all the heavy lifting for you.
- Platform & Low-Seating Frames: A low, grounded profile with clean lines that visually opens up compact rooms and works well in contemporary or Japandi-inspired setups.
- Carved & High-Back Poster Beds: For those who prefer classic Rajasthani character, these feature substantial artisan-crafted headboards that become the immediate focal point of the master room.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do I choose between a King and Queen size bed for my room?
Grab a tape measure before picking your size. A King bed fits a 72" x 78" mattress, while a Queen takes a 60" x 78" mattress. Because the wooden outer frame adds roughly 4 to 6 inches on all sides, a King bed needs a room measuring at least 12 x 14 feet. If your bedroom is closer to 10 x 11 or 10 x 12 feet, go with a Queen; otherwise, the room will feel cramped and opening your wardrobe doors will turn into a daily hassle.
2. Which wood lasts 15–20 years in Indian weather?
Seasoned Indian Rosewood (Sheesham) and solid Teak are easily the top choices. Sheesham has a tight grain and natural sap that fend off termites and moisture-induced swelling. When the raw log is kiln-dried down to an 8–10% moisture mark, it won't twist or crack, even during damp monsoons or dry, blistering summers.
Hydraulic, Box, or Drawer storage: Which should I pick?
- Hydraulic: Uses pneumatic gas pumps that let anyone lift the entire mattress with one hand. Best if you access the cavity weekly or store daily essentials underneath.
- Box Storage: Uses simple lift-off ply panels underneath the mattress. Because you have to slide off the mattress to get inside, it’s best reserved for seasonal winter quilts, heavy luggage, and spare blankets.
- Drawers: Slide out effortlessly from the sides or footboard. They're great for everyday clothes or bedsheets, but make sure you have at least 3 feet of open floor space alongside the bed so the drawers can pull out all the way.
3. Why are AG Handicrafts prices lower than high-street showrooms?
Showrooms in metro cities spend massive sums on mall leases, regional distributors, and sales commissions. We design, craft, and pack everything directly from our workshop units in Jodhpur. You buy directly from the manufacturer, which cuts out distributor layers and leaves you paying purely for timber and craftsmanship.
4. Can I count on safe, on-time delivery?
Yes. Solid wood furniture is heavy, so we route all orders through specialized surface cargo partners rather than generic courier services. Each piece gets wrapped in bubble wrap, protected with high-density corner foam, and packed inside thick corrugated boxes so it arrives scratch-free at your address.
5. Is assembly included, and how long does it take?
Yes. Most solid wood beds travel in knockdown condition so they can clear tight stairwells and standard doorways. Once the boxes arrive, our local technician visits to assemble the frame, tighten all structural bolts, and test the storage mechanism. The whole setup usually takes 45 to 60 minutes.
6. What happens if the bed doesn't fit my room or hallway?
Because the bed arrives knocked down into flat headboard, footboard, and side-rail pieces, getting it through apartment doors or service elevators is rarely a problem. That said, check your doorway widths and turns before ordering. If your staircase is especially tight or narrow, drop a message to our support desk with your hallway dimensions and we’ll tell you if that specific model will clear the turn.
7. How should I clean and care for a solid wood bed?
Dust the wood once a week with a dry microfiber cloth. If something spills, wipe it up quickly with a slightly damp cloth and buff it dry with a towel immediately, never leave pooled water sitting on natural wood. Keep the bed away from direct AC draft lines and hot window sun to avoid uneven drying. A light coat of natural wax polish once every two years will keep the Sheesham grain looking warm and deep.
8. Are upholstered beds worth it compared to pure wooden ones?
If you spend hours sitting up in bed working on a laptop or reading, a padded headboard is definitely easier on your back. The trade-off is maintenance: fabric and leatherette headboards attract dust and need regular vacuuming. If you like the plush feel but want the lifetime durability of solid wood, pick a solid Sheesham frame with an upholstered headboard cushion. You get the soft backrest while keeping a sturdy wooden base that won't give out.
